Bobcats unveil 2007-08 season schedule

The Charlotte Bobcats today unveiled the team's 2007-089 season schedule.

The Bobcats will open Nov. 2 at Charlotte Bobcats Arena against the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bobcats schedule also includes 18 weekend home dates, including three Sunday games.

Eight of

the Bobcats first 11 games will be at home, highlighted by all-star matchups with Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns on November 6, Yao Ming and the Houston Rockets on November 11, Shaquille O’Neal and the Miami Heat on November 13.

Other highlights of the schedule include a New Year’s Eve afternoon contest against the Indiana Pacers at 2 p.m., and a celebration of Martin Luther King’s birthday at 1 p.m. on January 21 against the defending NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs.

All Bobcats home games will begin at 7 p.m., with the exception of the two afternoon games and three 6 p.m. Sunday contests against Houston (Nov. 11), Milwaukee (Jan. 6) and the Toronto Raptors (March 2).

Bobcats sign 1st-round picks (AP)
The Charlotte Bobcats signed first-round draft picks D.J. Augustin and Alexis Ajinca on Tuesday. Under the NBA's rookie scale, Augustin will make about $1.8 million next season and nearly $2 million the next. Ajinca will make about $1 million next year, then $1.1 million in year two. The Bobcats hold team options for their third and fourth seasons.

Brown ready to get to work leading Bobcats (AP)

Many NBA head coaches let their assistants run the summer rookie and free agent minicamp. Not Larry Brown. Brown will continue his active offseason since taking over his record ninth NBA team when the Charlotte Bobcats open a four-day summer camp here Tuesday ahead of the team's participation in the Las Vegas summer league.

Charlotte Bobcats coach Larry Brown hired his brother to round out his coaching staff. Herb Brown will join Jeff Capel, Phil Ford and Dave Hanners as assistants. It'll be the third time the 72-year-old Brown will work for his younger brother, who is beginning his record ninth NBA head coaching job.
